Halton’s Medical Officer of Health (MOH) Dr. Hamidah Meghani has updated Class order effective today. The changes will make bring the Order in line with new provincial guidance under the Health Protection and Promotion Act.
“Stopping the spread of COVID-19 is a community effort and as we enter Step 1 of the Roadmap to re-poen we need to make every effort to further reduce the spread and severity of the virus in our community,” Meghani said. The changes apply to fully-vaccinated people.
Fully vaccinated people in close contact with a probable or positive case of COVID-19 may not have to self-isolate if:
- They have received both doses of a 2 dose vaccine (Moderna, Pfizer, and AstraZeneca) or a single dose of a one dose vaccine (Johnson and Johnson) 14 days before coming into contact
- Halton Region has confirmed the vaccine history
- They are asymptomatic
- If they don’t have an immunocompromising condition (organ/ stem cell transplants, chemotherapy or other immunosuppressive therapies)
Fully vaccinated people will still have to:
- Report exposure to employers, and follow employer’s restrictions
- Report any mild COVID-19 symptoms you may be experiencing to Halton Public Health and immediately self-isolate
The Region of Halton recommends residents continue to follow all public health measures currently place including: physical distancing, wearing a mask, and getting vaccinated.
