Heritage Milton to Move Forward as “Ad Hoc” Committee

By: Laura Steiner

Milton Council voted to disband the Heritage Milton Committee.  The decision came at their February 11, 2019 Council meeting.

They want to replace with an ad hoc working committee made up of Town staff, and members of the Milton Historical Society, and the Nassagewaya Historical Society.

Ward 2 Councillor John Challinor, also a member of the Milton Historical Society was eager to assure residents of the committee’s future. “The bottom line is that Heritage Milton is moving forward as a committee. What its specific responsibilities will be and how it will function are currently under discussion,” he said in an email.

The reason for this change cited in the report is to better integrate the committee’s feedback in the development application process. Heritage was one of the issues during the 2018 municipal election campaign.
