Ontario to Protect parents while Daycares are Closed

The Province of Ontario has issued an emergency order that will immediately prevent childcare operators from charging parents’ fees when care is not being provided.

“COVID-19 has imposed significant financial pressure on working parents,” Education Minister Stephen Lecce said  The order also prevents parents from their space while the daycare centres are closed due to the virus.  “We need to support our parents who may be facing reduced income or layoffs during the COVID-19 outbreak,” Lecce added.

The Childcare centres were closed by emergency order since the middle of March.  The province has reopened select centres to serve the families of frontline workers including Milton’s Wee Ones.  All publicly funded schools in Ontario will remain closed until May 4.
