Members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP)London Financial Crime Unit, working on a complaint from Veterans Affairs Canada, have charged an individual with Fraud over $5,000 following an 8 month investigation.
The investigation began in November 2016 when the RCMP was alerted by Veterans Affairs Canada that a fraud had been committed. Veterans Affairs Canada learned that veteran survivor benefits had continued to be issued for 14 months after the recipient’s death. The accused omitted notifying Veterans Affairs of her mother’s death and continued to collect the payments. She collected in excess of $26,000 from the government agency.
Charged with Fraud Over $5,000 is Terrill Anne Brooke (61) of London.
Ms. Terrill Brooke is scheduled to appear on September 11th, 2017, in Courtroom 5, at 9:30 am at the London Courthouse, 80 Dundas Street, London.
