Ward Profile: Ward 1 (Northwest Milton)

Boundaries:  North: Eramosa-Milton Town Line South: Derry Rd, East: Tremaine Rd, West, Halton/Wellington boundary

Formerly: Parts of ward 2 represented by Mike Boughton, and 3 represented by Cindy Lunau

Includes the Hamlets of: Campbellville, Moffat, Brookville.  Crawford Lake, Hilton Falls Conservation areas

Issues: 1) Tax Levy: In 2016 Milton Council voted to get rural residents paying the same rate as their urban counterparts.  This resulted in an increase of approximately $25.61/ $100,000.  With no sidewalks, or transit, and little in the way of the leisure services this raises the question of value for money.

2) Transit: A sore point for many residents.  Milton Transit’s 62 bus that ran from Milton to Campbellville was cancelled due to ridership numbers after a three month trial.

3) Representation: Late last year rural residents tried to get permission to form a rural residents advisory committee.  They were denied.
