The Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) have announced plans for the next series of rotating strikes. Halton District School Board has been announced as one of the union’s locations.
Action will take place two days next week, on Monday February 3, and Thursday February 6. “If these walkouts occur the HDSB will have no choice but to close the schools as there would not be adequate supervision to ensure the safety and well-being of students,” states an update on the board’s website. High schools will remain open. The job action taking place February 6 will be provincewide.
Mediators have called both sides back to the table. The walkouts will take place if there is no agreement by Thursday January 31. ETFO has been a work-to-rule campaign since November. The union’s issues include class size, and compensation.
