Tiger Jeet Singh Public School honoured Canada’s 150th birthday by planting five different trees. On November 8, students, and staff gathered to learn about them through presentations given by Grade 6 students. It was followed by a short ceremonial sod turning attended by Tiger Jeet Singh, and his family.
It was one of 150 initiatives organized by Tree Canada across the country marking Canada’s 150th birthday. “Our #Canada150 tree-planting celebrations are a perfect way to commemorate Canada’s legacy in a positive, meaningful and lasting way, all the while engaging people,” Tree Canada President Michael Rosen said.
Tiger Jeet Singh Public School is the first named to be named after someone of South-Asian descent. It opened in 2010.
